Accommodation
Description
Casa Petra is a very peculiar house nestled in the characteristic alleys of Modica, spreading on two levels.
It is a very original and unique house: some of the walls were, in fact, carved out of stone, and in some rooms you will have the feeling of being inside a cave.
Accessing the ground floor, guests will find the kitchen with a dining area, provided with a table, a sofa and a well-equipped kitchenette, fitted with an oven, a microwave and every tool needed to prepare meals.
On the same floor there is a bedroom with a queen size bed, bedside tables, mirror and a niche for storing personal belongings, in addition to a one-of-a-kind ensuite bathroom with shower made entirely from stone and another independent bathroom.
A wooden staircase leads to the mezzanine floor, which houses a comfortable double sofa bed and that has access to the terrace which boasts a beautiful view of the historic center of Modica and is furnished with table and chairs for relaxing moments.
*The house is located in a well-served pedestrian area, so it is not possible to drive there, however it is possible to park nearby.
We also offer to our guests truly authentic experiences to live like a local. If interested, contact us and we will be more than happy to help you out designing an unforgettable holiday to discover Italian beauties.
City of neolithic origins, Modica is a Sicilian town included since 2002 in the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites for its masterpieces. Characterized by the presence of “dry stone walls”, the prevailing style of its monuments is the late baroque, and in this regard it is possible to admire the mother church of the city of Modica: the sumptuous Duomo of San Giorgio, a symbol of Sicilian Baroque. Not far away, the city Museo della Memoria hosts unseen relics from the Second World War. The city of Modica is also famous for the production of chocolate, it hosts in fact the Chocolate Museum with sculptures and tastings.
To visit the city on foot is the best way to discover the artistic beauties and Modica’s old town. During summer there is a mini tourist train “Trenino Barocco” (little Baroque train) that connects the lower part of the city with the upper part, departing from the Corso Umberto I, in front of Duomo di San Pietro.
The airport of Catania Fontanarossa is about 120 km away, while Comiso “Pio La Torre” airport is 40 km away.
